The Local Area Migration Indicators Suite provides migration-related information for local areas. Most of the data are also published elsewhere, however, this product presents migration-related statistics in one place, so comparisons can be made more easily.
The indicator suite is an Excel spread sheet, which allows users to compare up to 3 geographical areas for a selected indicator, or to compare up to 3 indicators for a selected geography. Users can also access the underlying data for their own analysis.
The data contain long and short-term migration statistics, non-UK born population statistics, non-British nationality population statistics, migrant General Practitioner (GP) registration counts, migrant National Insurance Number counts and live births to non-UK born mothers statistics. Each indicator provides different measures, which together can provide a more complete picture of migration in local areas.
The indicators used in the suite are from various data sources that use different definitions and count different types of migration, and as so care needs to be taken when comparing the data.
